Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, has been released by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) after being detained at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
According to SaharaReporters, Sowore was detained on Sunday due to a watchlist from the Department of State Services (DSS). The Immigration Service confiscated his passport and reached out to the DSS while waiting for further instructions.
Upon arriving in Nigeria on Sunday, Sowore was immediately arrested and detained at the airport.
“I have just been released. My passport and everything have been returned to me,” Sowore told SaharaReporters after his release.
