Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has enthusiastically praised the recent shifts in the Nigerian economy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She pointed out that the nation is experiencing a significant decline in imports while witnessing an impressive rise in exports—a clear sign of economic expansion.
In a passionate message on her Instagram story, she wrote: “Our imports are reducing, and our exports are increasing. That is a sign that our economy is expanding.
“For the year-to-date 2024, our imports totaled N24.44 trillion, while exports soared to N38.59 trillion. This remarkable statistic gives us an unprecedented trade surplus of over N14 trillion in just eight months.
“It has never happened in Nigeria. Never. This is a refreshing shift from a culture of consumption to one of production.”
Her accolades come even as millions of citizens grapple with unprecedented hardship and inflation, evident during the recent ‘End Hunger Protests’ movement that captured the nation’s despair.
