The Imo State Police Command thwarted an assault by gunmen on Njaba Divisional Police Station on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least three of the suspected attackers.

This information was shared in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, who noted that the remaining assailants, wounded by gunfire, fled into nearby woods.

Okoye explained that police operatives successfully defended the Njaba Divisional Headquarters against a violent onslaught by hoodlums who arrived in three SUVs and unleashed a barrage of gunfire.

In response to the attack, the officers quickly assumed defensive positions and engaged the assailants, resulting in the elimination of three attackers.

Items recovered from the scene included a General Purpose Machine Gun, an AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles: a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a Toyota Venza.

He stated, “An intense operation, led by the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma, is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects.”

He emphasized that the police are determined to capture those responsible and bring them to justice.

Meanwhile, CP Aboki Danjuma commended the bravery of the operatives and assured the public that the Command remains dedicated to enhancing the state’s internal security.
