Residents of Mpape in Abuja’s Bwari Area Council have been shaken by a series of tremors and vibrations affecting the city over the past five days.

Dr. Ebenezer Adebisi, Chairman of the Mpape Hills Landlord Association and a retired Corps Commander, reported that these disturbances have become increasingly frequent and intense, unlike the isolated incidents of the past.

Adebisi noted that the current vibrations exceed the usual disturbances from nearby quarry rock blasting.

He pointed out that the tremors were especially strong on Sunday and Monday nights. Concerned for their safety, he urged the Nigerian government and the Nigerian Geological Agency to take official action and provide guidance to the residents.

Residents from neighboring areas, including Gwarinpa and Katampe, have reported similar experiences. An anonymous source from the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency warned that if the tremors continue, residents might need to consider temporary relocation. The official advised residents to keep detailed records of the vibrations to assist in evaluating the situation.

Efforts are underway to monitor the situation closely and ensure the safety of those affected.
