On Tuesday, Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, visited Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, leading the party’s leadership and the Obidient Movement to express condolences for the recent flood disaster that struck the region.

Accompanied by his 2023 running mate, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, and Senator Nenadi Usman, Chairman of the party’s National Caretaker Committee, Obi met with the state governor, Babagana Zulum, and the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba Al Amin El-Kanemi.

The former governor of Anambra State generously donated ₦50 million to the state government’s emergency relief fund.

“We will continue to stand with the people of Borno, providing aid and resources to help them rebuild and recover from this tragedy,” Obi stated through his media aide, Ibrahim Umar.

He reassured the people of Borno, saying, “As you navigate these challenging times, know that you are not alone.

“We are committed to alleviating the suffering and hardship caused by the floods, which have submerged over half of Maiduguri and displaced thousands of residents.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families, and we will do everything in our power to support them.”
