I’m not desperate to be president — Peter Obi

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has warned anyone planning to rig the September 21st governorship election in Edo State to reconsider, as anyone who attempts to rig the election will face the same consequences.

Speaking at the Labour Party campaign in the state on Wednesday, Obi emphasized that they are not seeking anyone’s vote, stating, “The era of rigging elections is coming to an end.”

He added, “We want this election to be free and fair. Anyone who rigs this election will be rigged in return because we cannot continue like this.

“This is what they do, and it places us in a difficult situation, where no one can move. Nigerians are suffering from hunger and various hardships. We cannot allow this to continue, and that is what the Labour Party aims to change.”

The former Anambra governor urged the Edo electorate to vote for Olumide Akpata, assuring them that he would work to combat insecurity and criminality and utilize the state’s resources to develop Edo State.
