…Vows to punish proven infraction

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has addressed reports regarding the addition of mysterious figures to certain political parties during the ongoing Edo governorship election.

Journalist101 recalls that the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concerns about inflated figures attributed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.

In a statement issued by their National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP claimed: “The election result sheet for Osholo Primary School Polling Unit in Weppa, Etsako East Local Government Area indicates that while 213 voters were accredited, Obozuwa Josephine unlawfully allocated 352 votes to the APC, 52 to the PDP, and one to the LP, totaling 406 votes cast.”

In response, INEC announced it will swiftly investigate the allegations of irregular figures entered into the polling unit result sheets.

The Commission posted on its official X (Twitter) account @inecnigeria, stating that it will address any verified infractions.

“The Commission’s attention has been drawn to allegations of incorrect figures recorded on polling unit result sheets during the ongoing Edo State Governorship election.

“This marks the second complaint we have received out of 4,519 polling units used for the election.

“The Commission will promptly investigate the matter and address any proven violations,” the post states.
