The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD-West Africa) has called for a review of the Edo state gubernatorial election results uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) viewing portal (IReV) in light of discrepancies with the official announcements made after the poll.
In a post-election statement, Adele Jinadu, the chairman of the CDD election analysis centre, emphasized the necessity for INEC to address any controversies and restore public confidence in the results collation process.
“The inconsistency in reporting raises concerns about whether the discrepancies stem from overvoting, poor data input, or other factors,” the statement indicated.
The CDD reported the upload of unclear results from Ozolua Primary School II, Abumwenre, Okokhua ward/RA 09, Ovia North-East LGA. Additionally, evidence of overvoting was noted in various polling units in Etsako East.
In the Weppa Registration Area at the Osholo Primary School polling unit in Etsako East Local Government, INEC uploaded results that showed the APC receiving more votes than the number of accredited voters: 213 voters were accredited, yet the APC recorded 352 votes, compared to 52 votes for the PDP.
