A Nigerian Army personnel named Abubakar has reportedly killed Olapade Segun, an officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), during a confrontation at a nightclub in the Bodija area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The incident unfolded on Sunday after the two men, who had encountered each other at the same venue just days before, clashed once again.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the disagreement escalated when Abubakar brandished a dagger and fatally stabbed Segun, who succumbed to severe blood loss before medical assistance could reach him.

In the aftermath, an angry mob retaliated by violently assaulting the soldier as he attempted to flee the scene. However, he was ultimately rescued by fellow soldiers who arrived to disperse the crowd.

According to Sahara Reporters, a source said; “A soldier named Abubakar and an NSCDC officer got into a heated argument, which led to the soldier stabbing the officer. The crowd turned on the soldier, but he was saved by his colleagues.”

An investigation is currently underway, with senior Army officials frequently visiting the NSCDC state command as part of the inquiry. Reports indicate that the Army has established a panel to investigate the incident.
