…. as Jim Nwobodo charges Caleb Ani on service delivery and placing God first

Newly inaugurated Hon. Caleb Ani has officially taken office as the Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area, committing to provide exceptional service delivery to the residents of the council.

JOURNALIST101 reports that Hon. Ani and 16 others elected during the council elections on September 21st were inaugurated and sworn in by Governor Peter Mbah at the Exco Chambers of Government House in Enugu on September 30, 2024. He urged them to hit the ground running and to deliver on people-centered projects and programs in alignment with their campaign promises.

Speaking to newsmen in his country home Obeagu Uno where he feted thousands of his supporters and well-wishers, visibly elated Hon. Caleb Ani emphasized the importance of responsive governance and community engagement, outlining his administration’s vision to foster development and enhance the living standards of all citizens in Enugu South. He expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the electorate and promised to work diligently to meet their expectations.

“We are here to serve the people,” Hon. Ani stated. We have a very serious model on how we’re going to marshal out our plans that will cut across security, infrastructural development, education, health and agricultural development so we can hit the ground running.

“His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah has set the pace for all the local government chairmen and Enugu South can never be an exception, we’re going to do things differently in line with the disruptive innovation mantra of our Governor and leader.

“Our administration will prioritize transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in all our endeavors. We will ensure that every resident feels the impact of good governance through quality service delivery. in critical areas such as health, education, infrastructure, and security.”

Hon. Ani also highlighted his commitment to collaborating with various stakeholders, including community leaders, youth organizations, and civil society groups, to identify and address the pressing needs of the local populace. He encouraged residents to actively participate in the governance process, assuring them that their voices would be heard and valued.

Hon. Caleb Ani reiterated his dedication to making Enugu South a model of progress and development, stating, “Together, we will build a vibrant community that we can all be proud of. I urge everyone to join hands with us as we embark on this journey of transformation.”

In his words of encouragement, the former Governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo offered his heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Caleb Ani on his inauguration and also took the opportunity to emphasize the essential responsibilities that come with this esteemed position.

The esteemed elder statesman urged Hon. Ani to prioritize the needs and aspirations of the people, reminding him that effective leadership is rooted in service to the people. “Your role as chairman is not merely a title, but a profound responsibility to uplift and empower the community you serve,” he stated.

“I will advice you to embark on projects that will lift our people out of poverty. I will also want him to prioritise the welfare of our people, most importantly, the downtrodden in our society.”

Furthermore, Nwobodo highlighted the importance of faith and integrity in governance. He encouraged Hon. Ani to place God at the forefront of his decision-making processes, asserting that a leader who seeks divine guidance will be better equipped to navigate the challenges ahead. “In all your endeavors, let your actions reflect a commitment to justice, compassion, and humility,” Nwobodo advised.

In his brief sermon earlier at the event, Pastor Chima Aninwene charged the new Chairman to “utilize this opportunity to work for your people and do not be distracted by what people will say.”

The clergyman told the new council Boss that this is an opportunity for him to provide the needed infrastructure for his people. “Emulate what His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah is doing and do projects that will be in the best interest of your people,” he said.

He also advised Hon. Caleb Ani to work well with his Deputy and councillors, and give them what’s due to them and ensure there’s peace in the local government as that’s a bedrock for progress.
