A High Court in the Izzi Judicial Division, sitting in Iboko, Ebonyi State, has sentenced John Nwaloke, a middle-aged man, to death by hanging for armed robbery.
Nwaloke was found guilty of robbing Igboke Emeka on June 6, 2023, in Mkpumaakpatakpa Agbaja, where he wielded a gun and stole a Kymstone motorcycle and an Infinix phone, together valued at N385,000. The case was documented as suit number HIB/12c/2023 and presided over by Justice Ruth Okeh.
The court charge outlined: “That you, John Nwaloke, on the 6th day of June 2023 at Mkpumaakpatakpa Agbaja in the Izzi Judicial Division, did arm yourself with a firearm and rob one Igboke Emeka of a Kymstone motorcycle valued at N300,000 and an Infinix Note 11 phone valued at N85,000, thereby committing the offence of armed robbery in violation of Section 1 (2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R11 Volume 1, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as applicable in Ebonyi State.”
After confirming Nwaloke’s guilt, Justice Okeh delivered the sentence: “The sentence of this court upon you, Obumneme John Nwaloke, is that you be hanged by the neck until you die. May the Lord have mercy on your soul.”
