Former Senate Majority Leader Jonathan Zwingina has reportedly passed away at the age of 70. Although his family has not yet confirmed the news, reliable sources indicate that he died on Wednesday, October 2, in Abuja.

Zwingina’s death is being mourned as a significant loss to the Nungurala community, Adamawa State, and Nigeria as a whole.

A prominent political figure, Zwingina was a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and served two terms representing the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District from 1999 to 2007. He later switched his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He celebrated his 70th birthday just two months ago, in August 2024.
