…suspends tax burden on the approved sum for one year

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has officially approved a minimum wage of seventy-two thousand five hundred Naira for Kogi Civil Servants, effective immediately.

Additionally, the Governor has suspended the tax obligation on this amount for one year.

Governor Ododo announced this important measure during the unveiling of the new minimum wage, following the signing of the agreement. He stressed the necessity of prompt implementation to help civil servants navigate the current economic challenges facing the country.

Also, Governor Ododo reaffirmed his commitment to not only implement the new minimum wage swiftly but also ensure its long-term sustainability.

He underscored the importance of ongoing dialogue and collaboration between the government and labor to address any emerging issues.

The Governor also assured the public that the state government is dedicated to enhancing the welfare of its employees and fostering a supportive working environment for all.

Mr. Elijah Evenemi, Chairman of the Minimum Wage Committee, described the agreement on the minimum wage as a triumph for the people, rather than any political party.

He expressed gratitude to the Governor for granting the committee the autonomy to pursue a shared objective.
