The Chairman of Isi-Uzo LGA, Hon. Obiora Obeagu, has restated his resolve to deal with security challenges in the council area.

Obeagu gave the assurances during a meeting with security agencies, royal fathers, and President-Generals of the communities in the council area to gather security reports and fashion a new security plan for Isi-Uzo LGA, noting that with what the Governor Peter Mbah Administration had achieved in checkmating insecurity in Isi-Uzo and Enugu State in general as well as the progress made under his first term as Council Chairman, “Isi-Uzo will not go back to Egypt.”

It could be recalled that in his September 30th inauguration speech, titled, “Keeping Isi-Uzo on the pathway to Development and Progress”, the Council Chairman, Hon. Obeagu, said that the priority of his administration, in line with their constitutional mandate, is the security and welfare of his people.

He requested for security reports from the stakeholders and vowed to leave no stone unturned in rejigging the security architecture of Isi-Uzo and strengthening security operations. He also said that a situation where individuals or illegal bodies set up parallel security structures and arm young men with weapons would no longer be tolerated in Isi-Uzo.

The security agencies in Isi-Uzo; the police, the military, Civil Defence Corps, Immigration and the Road Safety as well as the Royal fathers, President Generals of Town Unions and the CSO of the Council took turns to brief the Council Chairman on security situation in Isi-Uzo between the time his tenure ended in March this year and his recent assumption of office for a second term.

The security agencies and the stakeholders noted that despite some challenges, security had improved significantly in Isi-Uzo owing to the good works of the governor on security as well as Hon. Obiora Obeagu during his first term in office.

They commended Hon. Obiora Obeagu for his dedication and passion, and for working with them on security issues even while out of office, noting that they never felt his absence. They requested the Council Chairman to do more this time, from his experience, while expressing their resolve to partner with him and the Governor Mbah Administration to secure Isi-Uzo.

The Council Chairman told the stakeholders that the kinetic and non-kinetic interventions of Governor Mbah was greatly instrumental to the relative peace in Isi-Uzo today.

Obeagu thanked the governor for his visionary and innovative approaches to tacking security challenges in Isi-Uzo and Enugu State through investment in technology, infrastructure, andeducation. He expressed his desire to continue to partner with Governor Mbah to build on the successes already achieved and open up more roads in the communities and farm settlements to make the unoccupied spaces unattractive to bandits and criminals.

He also promised to deploy modern technology to support what the governor is already doing in dealing with external banditry and internal criminalities.

He also stated that another security meeting will be convened soon for strategic security actions on the reports he received while also informing stakeholders of his upcoming plans to host a crucial Security Summit and establish a Security Trust Fund for Isi-Uzo LGA.
