Four workers at a lounge and bar along Baale Road in the Olodi Apapa area of Lagos were burnt beyond recognition when a fire consumed the establishment.

In a separate incident on Saturday, two people lost their lives after a fence collapsed in the Ejigbo area of the state.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed both tragedies. He reported that the four hotel staff members perished in the inferno.

According to Hundeyin, at approximately 7:50 a.m. on Sunday, a distress call was made to the station indicating that a fire had erupted at the lounge and bar around 7:45 a.m. In response, a team of police officers and firefighters was quickly dispatched to the scene.

The fire affected the entire building and was ultimately extinguished.

“Investigations revealed that four yet-to-be-identified staff members were burnt beyond recognition,” Hundeyin said.

“Their remains were taken to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) morgue in Yaba.”

In a related event, two of the three victims from the collapsed fence succumbed to their injuries.

Hundeyin explained that this incident occurred on Saturday in the Ejigbo area of Lagos.

“A distress call was received around 10:30 a.m. reporting that a fence at a school on Apano Street, off Nurudeen Street, had collapsed on three individuals: Amaka, 30, Etim, 38, and Emmanuel, 12,” he stated.

All three victims were walking home during a heavy downpour when the fence fell.

“They suffered serious injuries and were rushed to Isolo General Hospital while unconscious. Doctors later confirmed the deaths of Etim and Emmanuel, while Amaka is currently receiving treatment,” he added.
