Soldiers have shot dead two bandits while trying to collect a N1.5 million ransom for four victims kidnapped in Mai-Iddo village, Kachia LGA, Kaduna State.

City & Crime learned that the captives—three women and a child, who were taken from a farm last week—were rescued by the troops.

A local community leader confirmed the incident to the paper on Tuesday, stating that the two bandits were killed after their leader instructed them to go to a designated spot where a relative of the abducted victims was expected to deliver the ransom.

He said, “The arrangements had been concluded with the troops with the man who will be taking the ransom to them and a vigilante. On getting to the particular location, the troops took cover.

‘’As two of the bandits came out to pick the ransom, the troops opened fire at them and killed the two of them instantly.”

He said the abducted victims were rescued by the troops and reunited with their families.

As at the time of filing the report, the spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, was yet to pick up calls or reply to text messages sent to him on the incident.
