In Onitsha, Anambra State, 36 suspected internet fraudsters have been apprehended at various locations.
On Thursday, the Enugu Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) announced the arrests made on October 11, 2024, which stemmed from actionable intelligence linking the suspects to online criminal activities.
Reports indicate that the suspects impersonated foreign nationals on social media to deceive unsuspecting victims.
Authorities recovered eight luxury vehicles, along with high-end mobile phones and laptops from the suspects.
The EFCC stated that the suspects will face charges in court once the investigation is completed.
