The Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has placed actress Halima Abubakar on indefinite suspension.

A statement from the Guild explains that this decision follows a thorough investigation into her alleged role in spreading slanderous rumors about her fellow actors.

The investigation, conducted by a special panel, revealed Abubakar’s connection to gossip involving extramarital affairs among prominent figures in both society and Nollywood.

As part of her suspension, Abubakar is prohibited from filming or participating in any Guild-related activities. She will also face a disciplinary committee to determine the consequences of her actions.

The AGN has tasked its National and State Chapter Taskforces with enforcing this suspension, warning that any violations could result in further penalties.

The statement reads, “Following the comprehensive investigative report by the special panel tasked with examining the activities of certain blogs since 2022, we have determined that Miss Halima Abubakar was responsible for disseminating slanderous information about our members, associates, and patrons, particularly concerning extramarital affairs linked to high-profile individuals in the industry.

“Therefore, Halima Abubakar is hereby placed on indefinite suspension from the Actors Guild of Nigeria. She will appear before the National Disciplinary Committee to determine the full extent of her punishment. During her suspension, she is barred from participating in any AGN activities or filming.”

The Guild expressed appreciation for the diligent work of the investigative panel, while also noting that other female members are under scrutiny for similar issues.
