The Yobe State Police Command has arrested Hamsatu Modu, a 54-year-old woman from Morami Village in Jakana Konduga LGA, Borno State, after discovering 350 rounds of ammunition in her possession.

This information was released in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim.

According to the report, the arrest took place at the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters in Damaturu, the state capital, following credible intelligence about a suspected gunrunner heading to Damaturu.

“Swift action led to the interception of a Golf 3 saloon car, where a thorough search uncovered 350 rounds of live 7.62×39 MM ammunition concealed within the suspect’s luggage,” he stated.

The suspect is currently being interrogated as investigators work to uncover the criminal network and motives behind the trafficking operation.

Additionally, Commissioner of Police Garba Ahmed reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to fighting crime and urged community members to continue cooperating with security agencies.
