Ayodele Fayose

The recommendation for the expulsion of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Dare Adeleke-led Caretaker Committee has been dismissed as “a political comedy orchestrated by a committee of jesters, led by a man who inflates his own importance like a bloated toad.”

In a statement on Monday, Fayose’s aide, Lere Olayinka, challenged the Caretaker Committee to act on their recommendation and carry out Fayose’s expulsion, rather than merely suggesting it to the National Working Committee of the party.

“What are they waiting for? If they wield such power over life and death, they should simply expel Fayose from the party. After all, their Caretaker has enough authority to change the very structure of a house it is merely maintaining for the owners,” Olayinka stated.

He questioned whether Fayose was to be stripped of his autonomy, especially when Dare Adeleke, the Caretaker Committee Chairman, has boasted about his success in removing Fayose from Ekiti PDP.

“The composition of the Caretaker Committee excluded Fayose and his supporters, yet we chose not to complain. We merely asserted that every action invites a corresponding reaction. Dare Adeleke established Local Government Caretaker Committees, which have no basis in the PDP Constitution, while sidelining Fayose and his allies, and we remained silent.

“They have held countless meetings, puffing up their egos by declaring that they have expelled Fayose from the PDP in Ekiti State, and still, we did not protest.

“So what do they truly want from Fayose?

“When you deny someone entry into your home, does that mean he cannot seek the hospitality of those willing to welcome him?

“Now that Dare Adeleke has completed his mission of removing Fayose from Ekiti PDP, shouldn’t he just return to Ibadan and come back to Ekiti in 2026 to vote for the PDP? Or do they still wish to control whom Fayose associates with, and dictate his words and actions?”
