A Federal High Court in Zamfara State has rejected an ex parte request from a faction supported by Bala Mohammed, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, to convene the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

The faction sought the court’s approval to hold the NEC meeting as the party’s internal crisis escalated.

Justice Salim Ibrahim ruled against the request.

This faction, led by Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed, had previously approached the court for the ex parte order to hold the meeting.

In a previous move, governors affiliated with the PDP, under Mohammed’s leadership, attempted to oust the acting national chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum.

This action intensified the ongoing turmoil within the party, particularly sparking resistance from stakeholders allied with Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.

Additionally, the Federal High Court in Abuja issued an order prohibiting the removal of Damagum.

The suit from Mohammed’s faction was filed in the Federal High Court located in Zamfara State.
