Baltasar Ebang, the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF) of Equatorial Guinea, has been arrested following the discovery of over 400 explicit videos featuring him with various women.
The country’s attorney general, Anatolio Nguema, has initiated an investigation into the incident, which raises concerns about public health.
For several days, erotic videos of Mr. Ebang have circulated online, reportedly first surfacing on November 2.
In the footage, Mr. Ebang is seen engaging in unprotected sexual acts with multiple women, including those married to influential and prominent individuals in the country.
He allegedly recorded the explicit scenes with the consent of the women to protect himself from potential allegations of violating their integrity.
Until his arrest over the weekend, Mr. Ebang held the position of director general at the National Financial Investigation Agency.
Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President, Teodoro Nguema, addressed the situation in a post on X, stating that sexual relations are strictly forbidden in administrative workplaces.
“Given the abuses displayed on social media in Equatorial Guinea in recent days, and emphasizing that ministries exist solely for the purpose of administrative work in support of the country’s development, sexual relations in offices are prohibited.
“Control mechanisms are in place, and anyone who violates this rule will face disciplinary action for indecent conduct and will be dismissed from their position.”
