A group of assailants has abducted a middle-aged man, believed to be a businessman, in the Alor community of Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The incident took place late on Sunday as the victim was driving home from an event.
Local sources report that the gunmen ambushed his vehicle opposite Ezeani Primary School in Alor, overpowering him before fleeing with their captive.
One unnamed source, citing the sensitivity of the situation, stated, “The incident occurred around 6:47 PM yesterday (Sunday). The man was driving his Toyota Corolla, plate number EKY-102GK, when the assailants double-crossed him near the school.
“They smashed the windows of his car, struck his head with the butt of a gun, and forcibly bundled him into the trunk of their vehicle before driving away.
“Although we couldn’t see his face clearly due to the blood covering it when they dragged him from his car, we suspect he is a businessman and a member of this community.”
The victim’s vehicle was later found abandoned, stained with blood. Witnesses likened the scene to a commando film, as residents fled into hiding, peering from their concealment to observe the chaos.
This account was further substantiated by a video circulating on social media, showing the abandoned car on the roadside, identified as belonging to the victim.
On Monday, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway..
Ikenga said, “The Command has started investigation of a reported abandoned, but recovered vehicle in Alor Community, Idemili South LG.
“Preliminary information revealed that the victim was abducted by yet unidentified persons.
“Meanwhile, the operatives are working with the persons in the area for possible rescue of the victim and arrest of the suspects.
