Nnamdi Kanu in handcuffs

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, announced that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), will soon be granted his freedom.

The governor shared this news during a monthly media chat at the Government House Banquet Hall in Umuahia.

Governor Otti disclosed that there are ongoing discussions with the presidency regarding Kanu’s continued detention. However, he refrained from providing specific details, emphasizing that sensitive negotiations are taking place behind the scenes.

The Abia State-born activist has been a prominent advocate for Biafra’s secession and independence from Nigeria, remaining imprisoned since his re-arrest in 2021.
