The Governor also affirmed this, stating that “MSMEs are the lifeblood and backbone of the economy.” Little wonder the Governor has taken laudable steps to ensure that this “lifeblood” and “backbone” of the economy receives all the necessary support needed to grow and subsequently grow the economy.
To ensure that the Governor’s vision is birthed and results are recorded, there have been
numerous initiatives in the state set up to empower small business owners. The SMEDAN Equipment Grant Program, which was launched through the Enugu SME Agency has rewarded over 50
entrepreneurs within the state with grants up to 300,000 naira in cash or equipment.
Among the 50 entrepreneurs, the founder, Miss Ubok Ameh of “Uban Leathered” a startup that creates and designs quality leather bags was empowered. This grant was used to purchase quality equipment to enable the founder to produce more bags as well as hire more staff, including interns! This is good news for her business as productivity levels just hit the roof!
A million thanks to our able Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah for his actionable steps to support small businesses!
Signed,
Mr. Arinze Chilo-Offiah
