…Restates Commitment To Supporting Economy
Netflix, the popular streaming platform, has denied reports that it is withdrawing from Nigeria.
Concerns arose following unverified rumours suggesting that Netflix was planning to leave the country.
In response, the company, through its public relations firm Hill & Knowlton Strategies, firmly stated that it has no intention of exiting Nigeria.
Edafe Onoriode, the Group Account Director, reiterated the company’s ongoing commitment to Nigeria’s creative economy.
“We are not leaving Nigeria. We will continue to invest in Nigerian stories to delight our members,” the Netflix spokesperson affirmed.
The rumours surrounding Netflix’s exit gained traction after statements attributed to renowned Nollywood actor Kunle Afolayan surfaced.
In a now-viral quote, Afolayan stated that Netflix had cancelled numerous projects it had previously commissioned.
Netflix has been operating in Nigeria since 2016, marking eight years of presence in the country.
