The government of Enugu State has suspended two school principals for prematurely shutting down their schools and sending students home before the official closing date.
According to Journalist101, the Boys Special Science School Agbani and the Girls Special Science School Agbani were closed by their principals prior to the scheduled closing date of 13th December 2024.
It has been reported that the principals closed the schools on 29th November and 2nd December respectively, instructing students residing in the school hostels to return home.
A source within the Science Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB) informed our correspondent that the principals are now facing disciplinary measures due to their actions.
“What they did is highly unprofessional; parents did not anticipate their children returning home when these principals ordered them to leave,” said the source, who requested anonymity.
“They acted without consulting the STVSMB, which is directly responsible for managing the science schools.”
All attempts to contact the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Amaka Ngene, for comment on the situation were unsuccessful at the time of this report.
