President Bola Tinubu has appointed a new head for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).
He has named Nwakuche Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the NCS following the completion of Haliru Nababa’s tenure.
Nababa was originally appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari on February 18, 2021.
Ja’afaru Ahmed, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board, confirmed this development, stating that Ndidi’s appointment will take effect from December 15, 2024.
Ahmed remarked, “The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the expiration of Haliru Nababa’s tenure. His appointment takes effect from December 15, 2024.
“Nwakuche, born on November 26, 1966, is from Oguta in Imo State. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Deputy Controller-General overseeing the Training and Staff Development Directorate.”
“He is a fellow of the esteemed National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies and holds the national honour of Member of the Federal Republic.”
“The President has further encouraged him to leverage his extensive experience in his new role.”
