Senator Austin Akobundu, representing the Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, on Wednesday, 18th December, 2024, joined dignitaries from various spheres of life to bid farewell to the late Elder Dr Emmanuel Onyemobi Adaelu MFR, a patriarch and leader of the Ukwa/Ngwa people, as he was laid to rest in a remarkable ceremony.

The funeral service, conducted by the Seventh Day Adventist Church Abayi, took place at Ngwa High School in Aba.

During his earlier visit to the family, Senator Akobundu conveyed his profound sorrow at the loss of the esteemed elder statesman, whose passing, he remarked, has left an indelible mark not only on his family and community but also on the Ukwa/Ngwa people, Abia State, Nigeria, and humanity as a whole.

Reflecting on his resin and paint manufacturing company, CHEMLAP Nig Ltd, which has been a valuable employer since commencing operations in 1983, Akobundu honoured the highly respected icon of Ngwa heritage as a dedicated teacher, erudite scholar, leading industrialist, exemplary philanthropist, committed activist, devout Christian, and lover of God, whose significant contributions to humanity will forever resonate in history.

He prayed for the eternal rest of his soul and for the family and loved ones he has left behind to find the strength to cope with this profound loss.
