Nearly a month after his arrest by the Nigeria Police Force in Imo State, Nigerian rapper and internet sensation Darlington Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington, has been granted bail.
Okoye’s arrest stemmed from a petition filed by Grammy Award-winning artist Burna Boy, alleging an affiliation with the embattled US rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, publicly announced the arrest, claiming it was carried out on Burna Boy’s directives. This revelation sparked outrage among Nigerian social media users and influencers, who called for his immediate release.
In a surprising twist, prominent lawyer Stan Alieke revealed on his Instagram story that Speed Darlington had been released.
According to Alieke, who referred to him as Akpi, the court granted his client bail, though he did not disclose the details of the bail conditions. Alieke stated simply, “Akpi has been granted bail by the court.”
