A 43-year-old man, Wale Ogunsanmi, has been arrested by police in Osun State on suspicion of murdering his church pastor, Shina Olaribigbe.
The 52-year-old pastor was allegedly stabbed to death by Ogunsanmi on January 1, following accusations of an affair with Ogunsanmi’s wife.
According to reports, Ogunsanmi, who had been living apart from his wife for approximately a year, broke into her home and discovered her with the pastor, leading him to fatally stab the pastor with a knife.
Yemisi Opalola, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the arrest on Friday, stating that officers from the Dugbe Division responded quickly to the incident, apprehended the suspect, and recovered the weapon.
Opalola added that the pastor’s body has been taken to the Uniosun Teaching Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy.
“Investigations are ongoing. The command is committed to ensuring that justice is served,” Opalola stated.
