On Friday, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State announced the dissolution of the state executive council.

The Secretary to the Governor, Eno Uwah, shared this news in a press release issued shortly after a valedictory session.

“All Honourable Commissioners and Special Advisers are advised to hand over their responsibilities to their Permanent Secretaries, or to the most senior director in the absence of a Permanent Secretary,” Mr Uwah stated in the release.

Several weeks ago, Mr Eno had informed reporters in Uyo of his intention to dissolve his cabinet and introduce new members.

He inherited most of the cabinet from his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel.

Local media in Uyo speculate that around 10 of the commissioners may be reappointed.

In a related development, Governor Eno provided SUVs to permanent secretaries in the state as their official vehicles on Friday.
