In a surprising turn of events, the naira appreciated against the dollar in the parallel foreign exchange market on Tuesday.
Abubakar Alhasan, an experienced Bureau de Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, shared the latest figures with DAILY POST on Tuesday. On this day, the naira was traded at N1,660 per dollar, a noteworthy improvement from N1,667 on Monday, reflecting a gain of N7 against the dollar.
In contrast, the news was less favourable in the official market, where the naira continued its downward trajectory, closing at N1,549.65 on Tuesday, up from N1,548.89 the previous day.
Despite renewed efforts by the Nigeria’s apex bank, the decline in the value of the naira has persisted at the official market over the past few days.
