Chief Edozie Njoku, the former national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has been named the new national chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM).
Njoku’s journey has been anything but straightforward. He initially ascended to the chairmanship of APGA following a landmark Supreme Court judgement, only to have that triumph swiftly overturned when the court ruled he had never been officially appointed. Demonstrating remarkable resilience, Njoku gracefully accepted this setback and set his sights on new horizons.
At an emergency national convention held in Abuja, monitored by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Njoku was unanimously elected as NRM’s national chairman. His rise comes on the heels of Ambassador Isaac Udeh stepping down from the position, now taking on the role of national organising secretary.
Party members rallied around Njoku, recognising his extensive experience and proven leadership capabilities as essential for guiding the NRM forward.
Upon his election, Njoku expressed deep gratitude to Ambassador Udeh for his significant contributions and sacrifice. He pledged to revitalise and reposition the party in anticipation of the upcoming governorship election in Anambra State.
