A police inspector, identified as Lawal Ibrahim from the Kwali Division, has been found dead in a hotel room at Palasa Guest Inn in the Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Reports indicate that Ibrahim died following a meeting with a woman he met online. The tragic incident occurred early last Thursday, three months after he had invited the woman, named Maryam Abba from Dutse, Jigawa State, to join him.

Eyewitnesses suggest the pair engaged in intimate relations upon checking into the hotel on Wednesday evening. The following morning, around 6 a.m., it was reported that they had another encounter, after which the inspector began to breathe erratically and became unresponsive.

Noticing his unusual condition, Maryam attempted to revive him by sprinkling water on him but received no response. In a state of urgency, she alerted the hotel manager, Danlami Palasa, who subsequently reported the situation to the Gwagwalada police division.

Officers arrived at the scene and discovered the lifeless body of the inspector in the hotel room. His remains were taken to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.

Authorities recovered several items from the room, including a watermelon, a substance suspected to be an aphrodisiac, a phone charger, and the deceased’s police identification card.

Maryam has been taken into custody, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is currently underway.

A police source from the Gwagwalada division confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, adding that efforts are ongoing to determine the cause of death.
