The High Court of Enugu State, under the Honourable Justice A.O. Onovo, has issued an interim injunction in a land dispute involving “Ururu Ike Land” located in Umuoha village, within the Okpebe Autonomous Community, Amodu Awkunanaw, Enugu State.

This case, assigned Suit No. E/910/2024, was filed by four plaintiffs: Mr. Okechukwu Ogbodo, Mr. Okechukwu Orji, Mr. Chijioke Orji, and Mr. Sunday Orji.

They have brought the legal action against several defendants, including the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Okonneji, Hon. Chidiebere Okoh, Mr. Okah Chukwuagozie (also known as Evergreen), Mr. Sunday Onovo, Mr. Emeka Christian Okoh, Mr. Moses Okafor, Mr. Achuwa Anike Ogbodo, Mr. Ifeanyi Nevo, Mr. Ndubuisi Nwigwe, Mr. Chinwuba Aninweze, Mr. Okwudiri Nweze, Mr. Godwin Ani, and Mr. Osy Ani.

During the proceedings on December 12, 2024, Justice Onovo ruled on a Motion Ex-parte dated November 5, 2024, and submitted on November 7, 2024.

This motion was backed by a 22-paragraph affidavit sworn by Mr. Okechukwu Ogbodo, along with arguments presented by J.C. Eze Esq., counsel for the plaintiffs.

The court has permitted the plaintiffs to serve the Writ of Summons and other legal documents upon the defendants/respondents by affixing them to the entrance doors or gates of their residences in Umuoha village, Amodu Awkunanaw, Enugu State.

Furthermore, the defendants and their agents are prohibited from harassing, arresting, constructing upon, or selling any portion of the disputed “Ururu Ike Land” until the court hears the Motion on Notice.

The case has been adjourned to February 12, 2025, for further hearing.
