Renowned academic Prof. Kalu Eni has called on the people of Abia State to unite in support of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the representative for Abia North Senatorial District, urging other political parties to refrain from fielding candidates against him in the 2027 National Assembly elections.
Prof. Eni lauded Senator Kalu’s remarkable performance, particularly highlighting his achievement in facilitating the construction of over 80 schools across Abia North in a single budget year, an unprecedented feat in Nigeria.
In an interview with newsmen, Prof. Eni praised Senator Kalu as a leader deeply committed to investing in the future of young children through quality and free education—a legacy he began during his tenure as governor of Abia State.
“When I first heard that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu had renovated over 100 schools, I was sceptical. However, after reviewing the 2024 budget and assessing the lawmakers’ performance, I was astonished to discover that he managed the construction of 80 schools in Abia North within just one budget year. I felt immense pride in being from Abia North. We must guard him fiercely; this achievement is unprecedented in Nigeria’s history. I urge all Abians to encourage political parties to adopt him as the sole candidate in 2027. We cannot afford to lose such a remarkable leader. Every sensible Abian should rally behind him for the comprehensive development of Abia North and the state as a whole.”
He continued: “What we see today is a continuation of his earlier efforts as governor of Abia State. At that time, we had a system of compulsory and entirely free education for all, leading to flourishing educational institutions in Abia, thanks to his investment in the sector.
“Today, as the Senator representing Abia North, he is replicating this steadfast commitment. He is providing free educational materials, including uniforms, school bags, and textbooks in subjects such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology. He is passionate about education and the advancement of our children, recognising that education is the foundation of our nation and society. Leaders like Senator Kalu are rare, and when we find one, we must safeguard them. There should be continuity in Abia North, as Senator Kalu is the finest leader in the history of our senatorial district.”
