The South East Bureau Chief of The Sun Newspaper, Nze Magnus Eze has been appointed as the Special Assistant on Communications and New Media to the Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs (State), Iyom Bianca Ojukwu.

A letter confirming his appointment, dated January 8, 2025, was signed by Amb. Bello Kazaure Husseini, Director of Administration at the ministry.

Eze, a seasoned journalist, brings a wealth of contacts and extensive experience in media to this new role. He is expected to play a pivotal part in advancing the strategic communication aspects of the foreign policy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which centres on the themes of Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora—collectively referred to as the 4-Ds.

Hailing from Mgbom N’Achara in Okposi, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Eze was born on June 25, 1969. He commenced his education at Ikwuano Primary School in Mgbom Okposi and went on to become one of the pioneers at Eziokposi High School, where he completed his terminal examinations in 1987.

In 1988, he entered the University of Uyo and graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts. Eze, who is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), also holds a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the same institution.

He fulfilled his mandatory national service in the Mass Communication Department at Ogun State Polytechnic (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, before joining Newswatch Magazine.

With a flourishing media career spanning nearly three decades, Eze has held various prominent positions, including Editor of Newsday Newspaper in Abuja (2004–2006), Deputy Editor of Newsworld Magazine, and Regional Correspondent for South Africa-based AU Media. He currently serves as Assistant Editor and South East Bureau Chief at The Sun Newspaper.

Eze is married to Anenechi, and they have five children together.

As part of his commitment to community development, he founded The Mezie Okposi Organization in 2014, which encompasses the Mezie Okposi Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Mezie Okposi Charities, and the Okposi Geriatric Project. This organisation has significantly benefited both the youth and the elderly through initiatives in leadership, value orientation, cultural preservation, capacity building, and community service.

Affectionately known as Nze Magnus, he is widely regarded as a generous and kind-hearted individual.
