Many gunmen are feared dead following a joint operation by Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s security team, Agunechemba, in collaboration with various security forces, as they raided a hideout of gunmen and kidnappers in Enugu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area.
The raid, conducted at approximately 1 am on Thursday, resulted in numerous criminals being killed, while others escaped with varying degrees of injuries.
This operation involved the “Udo Ga Achi and Agunechemba” troops, alongside police, DSS, and military personnel. Sources confirm that the raid was informed by intelligence, and one gunman was apprehended during the operation.
Recovered items include two AK-47 rifles, eight pump-action guns, four locally made pistols, three packets of cartridges (totaling 101 cartridges), four empty AK-47 magazines, three cutlasses, one Baofeng radio, one motorcycle, and several charms.
Anambra State has recently faced a surge in violence from gunmen carrying out attacks and successful kidnappings.
