Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, commented that Imo Ugochinyere, the House of Representatives member for Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, is merely “lamenting over lost alawee (pocket money) from Rivers State.” He advised him to “cry less and instead seek another mugu (victim) to exploit as a political ATM.”

In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, Olayinka described Ugochinyere as a “political hushpuppi,” noting that it is to be expected for him to lament the dismantling of fraudulent local government structures orchestrated through his party, the Action Peoples Party (APP), in Rivers State. He alleged, “From the illegal council chairmen, we know just how many billions of Naira he has amassed, and that time has now come to an end. He must cry.”

Responding to Ugochinyere’s comments made during a live television programme, the FCT Minister’s spokesperson urged him to cease misleading the public about a non-existent opposition group, saying, “That political hushpuppi should disclose which House of Representatives members are part of his Yahoo Yahoo Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).”

Ugochinyere previously claimed that the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Ameawhule, would never witness the Rivers State budget. He boasted about the departure of Assembly members, asserting that nothing would bring them back.

“Yet today, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, the unfortunate target of Ugochinyere’s deceptive politics, is realising the grim reality that the free flow of alawee is coming to an end. This is why he appeared on live television, shouting like a wounded goat,” Olayinka remarked.

Maintaining that Governor Fubara is not poised for peace or proper governance as mandated by law, Olayinka questioned when a governor had begun attending the House of Assembly uninvited.

He stated, “The governor is merely seeking attention and generating content for social media. Shouldn’t he understand that the proper procedure is to write to the Speaker and await a response about scheduling his budget presentation?”

“Certainly, he should know better. But when you have someone like Ugochinyere, who isn’t ashamed of anything—including playing the role of a wife to secure funds—as your primary adviser, you might as well carry the budget on your head to Rumuokoro Market to deliver it to the Speaker’s wife.”
