An explosion has occurred at the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, located in the Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The affected section of this major pipeline is currently ablaze, although the exact cause of the explosion is still unknown.
Authorities are investigating whether the incident was caused by human interference, particularly in light of recent threats from militant groups to target oil installations in response to the Federal Government’s decision to withhold Rivers State’s allocation due to the ongoing political crisis.
The explosion reportedly took place on Monday night along the crucial export pipeline that transports crude oil to the Bonny Terminal.
