Two members of the House of Representatives have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers—Adamu Tanko, who represents the Suleja, Gurara, and Tafa Federal Constituency of Niger State, and Jallo Husseini Mohammed, representing the Igabi Federal Constituency of Kaduna State— announced their defection in a letter read on the House floor by Speaker Dr. Tajudeen Abbas.

Citing internal divisions within the PDP as their primary reason for switching parties, the defectors expressed that their political ideologies now align more closely with those of the APC.

This shift contributes to a growing trend of defections in the 10th House of Representatives, where more than ten lawmakers have departed from their original parties to join the APC since the House’s inauguration.
