The Landmark Group has officially assumed control of the Nike Lake Resort, situated in the Enugu East local government area of Enugu State.
Journalist101 recalls that on January 15, 2025, the Enugu State Government, led by Governor Peter Mbah, finalised a partnership with Landmark Africa Group to revitalise and unlock the potential of Nike Lake Resort.
Under this joint venture, the state government will provide Nike Lake Resort as an asset, while Landmark Group will manage and operate the resort, with plans to restore it to its former glory through an investment of up to N10 billion in the initial phase.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Landmark Group announced that the partnership is now a reality. They stated that it marks “the beginning of an ambitious transformation project”, with the aim to “drive economic growth and elevate the tourism landscape in Enugu State.”.
The group stated that; “The vision is to reimagine Nike Lake Resort as a world-class and modern tourism and leisure destination, combining premium accommodation with exceptional lifestyle and recreational experiences.”
Providing further details on the expected upgrade, Landmark Group noted that; “The redevelopment will be executed in phases and will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including redesigned rooms, luxury spas, waterfront villas, diverse food and beverage outlets, sports facilities, family-friendly zones, a leisure park, and a wide range of recreational activities tailored to guests of all ages.
“In line with this transformation, the Landmark Group is committed to aligning its workforce to globally benchmarked operational standards. Our goal is to build a strong and dynamic core team who work with a community of leisure and hospitality service providers positioned along the entire length of the development and management cycle to deliver unmatched leisure and hospitality experiences. In the course of achieving this goal, over 5000 direct and indirect jobs will be created in concert with supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), thus underscoring the Group’s dedication to boosting employment and fostering socio-economic development and growth in the region.”
Furthermore, the group said the project will improve the state’s IGR and also thanked the government of Enugu State and their host community for their support.
