The member representing Ezeagu constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Chima Obieze, has warned Senator Sam Anyanwu against celebrating the Supreme Court’s verdict today.
In a statement made available to JOURNALIST101, Obieze clarified that, contrary to the media hype, the apex court did not officially declare anyone as the National Secretary of the party.
“The Supreme Court has reaffirmed the autonomy of political parties in Nigeria, declaring on this day, March 21, 2025, that the decision regarding who occupies the position of National Secretary or any other office lies exclusively with the party.
“This landmark judgement means that neither Senator Anyanwu nor Udeh-Okoye has been formally declared the National Secretary. Ultimately, the decision is the prerogative of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We urge Senator Anyanwu to refrain from premature celebrations and misleading the public through various media outlets. Instead, we will await the party’s official decision on this matter.”
Obieze also emphasised that all relevant party organs have endorsed Udeh Okoye for the position, expressing optimism that the party will reach a definitive decision in the coming days.
“It is important to note that the Southeast zonal caucus of the PDP, the Board of Trustees (BOT), the PDP Governors Forum, and the National Working Committee (NWC) have all backed Udeh Okoye for the position.
“We look forward to the party’s final decision, which will provide clarity and direction on this issue.”
