Police operatives from the Special Anti-Cult Unit in Enugwu Ukwu have apprehended two suspects: Chibuike Ozoekwem, a 22-year-old male, and 19-year-old Favour Patrick, in an uncompleted building on Onwurah Street, Awka, Anambra State.
This information was revealed in a statement issued on Saturday night by the Spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Ikenga Tochukwu.
Ikenga confirmed that the arrests took place in the early hours of 18th March 2025. The operatives seized a pump-action gun, sixteen expended cartridges, a battle axe, and two suspected stolen mobile phones.
He further stated that following their arrest, a victim recognised one of the recovered phones, informing the police that she had been robbed at gunpoint on 13th March 2025 by four armed men along Club Road.
“The police operatives are broadening their investigation to apprehend other gang members,” Ikenga added. “Further details will be communicated upon receipt.”
“Meanwhile, all suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigations.”
