A Joint Security team consisting of the Police, Military, and Ihiala Vigilante has successfully neutralised a notorious kidnapper and rescued his victim in the Ihiala local government area of Anambra State.
Providing further details on the operation, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, Spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, reported that the team, while on patrol on the evening of 24th March 2025, intercepted a black shuttle bus with registration number RSH 255MS that was behaving suspiciously.
Ikenga stated, “When the team attempted to stop the vehicle, the armed occupants opened fire. During the ensuing gun battle, our operatives managed to incapacitate one of the attackers, while four others fled into nearby bushes, sustaining various degrees of gunshot wounds.
“Upon searching the vehicle, the operatives discovered a blindfolded victim, who had been kidnapped and was bound at the hands and feet, with his mouth taped shut. The victim was successfully rescued, administered first aid, and subsequently debriefed by Police Operatives.”
“The vehicle has been recovered, and the Joint Security Team is continuing operations in the area to apprehend the remaining suspects.”
“In light of these events, the Command urges all private and public hospitals to admit any individuals presenting with bullet wounds or suspicious injuries, and to report such cases to the nearest Police Station. This measure is vital to our ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and to prevent further criminal activities in the State.”
Ikenga assured that the Command remains committed to ensuring security dominance through sustained patrols and targeted operations across Anambra State.
