Rivers state sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas (Rtd) has suspended all political office-holders and appointees across the state, effective immediately.
A statement issued on Wednesday night by the Chief of Staff to the Administrator of Rivers State revealed that this suspension is in accordance with the powers granted to the state’s sole Administrator, by President Bola Tinubu.
The officials affected by this suspension include:
– The Secretary to the State Government (SSG)
– The Chief of Staff
– All Honourable Commissioners
– Chairs and members of boards, councils, agencies, commissions, institutions, and parastatals
– All Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants
The statement further instructed the suspended officials to hand over their responsibilities to the Permanent Secretaries in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
In instances where a Permanent Secretary is not present, the most senior Director or Head of Administration will assume responsibility.
This directive is effective from Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
