Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has effectively secured Kano State ahead of the 2027 elections, which are still some time away.
He emphasised that with the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, and the Special Assistant to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Lado, all hailing from Kano, President Bola Tinubu and the APC have no concerns regarding their prospects in the state for the upcoming elections.
Akpabio made these comments during a brief visit to Lado’s office at the National Assembly on Thursday evening.
He praised Lado’s dedication to his role in enhancing the presidential liaison by ensuring that there have been no communication leaks between the presidency and the Senate since he took office in 2023.
He remarked, “It is important to note that since Senator Lado assumed his position as Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on National Assembly (Senate Matters), there has not been a single leak of confidential communication between the presidency and the Senate.
“We have not encountered any incidents of leakage. In government, we refer to this as the right to know.
“The right to know is essential. When government matters become public through media leaks, it adversely affects national security.
“I want to express my gratitude to you for upholding the principles of governance and maintaining the integrity of the separation of powers.
“Your performance in office over the past eight months has been unprecedented, as you have transformed the role and significantly strengthened the collaboration between the executive and legislative branches for the benefit of all.
“You are undoubtedly a person of substance, excellence, and style, who has redefined your office to deliver better results, as evidenced by your meticulous tracking of all bills passed and those that have received presidential assent.
“With figures like the Deputy President of the Senate, the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and your strategic mind, Kano is already secured for the APC in 2027.”
Earlier, Lado expressed that Tinubu has found in Akpabio not only a dependable ally but also a statesman who comprehends the delicate art of governance and the significance of collaboration over conflict.
