The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Sunday, March 30, 2025, as the first day of Shawwal 1446AH and Eid-el-Fitr.
The Sultan, who is the President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), made this announcement after receiving reports from the National Moon Sighting Committees across the country, which confirmed the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal in several locations.
He extended his heartfelt greetings to the Nigerian Muslim community, wishing them Allah’s guidance and blessings.
Additionally, he urged the Muslim community to continue praying for peace, progress, and the development of the country, while also expressing his well-wishes for all Muslims during and after the celebration.
He encouraged Muslims to keep praying for leaders at all levels.
