Professor Uduma Kalu, an expert in building technology, has issued a warning to Tochukwu Ogbuagu, a blogger from Abia known as Kepu Kepu TV, to refrain from attempting to blackmail the communities in Ohafia LGA regarding the developmental initiatives of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents the Abia North Senatorial District.
The university academic clarified that he and the people of Ohafia do not associate with Ogbuagu, emphasising that the blogger is not a resident of Ohafia LGA and lacks the authority to speak on behalf of the community. He pointed out that no one from Ohafia engaged Ogbuagu as their spokesperson.
Professor Kalu praised Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for the Ndi Orieke road project, calling it a significant achievement for both the community and advocates of development. He recounted the road’s prior impassability, underscoring that the senator’s intervention has brought vital relief.
“This community has endured over 50 years of hardship due to the deplorable condition of this road, which was even challenging for motorbikes to navigate. It was entirely inaccessible until Senator Orji Uzor Kalu came to our aid. Where were Kepu Kepu and his backers when we needed assistance? Why didn’t they bring attention to the road’s dire state earlier?” he questioned.
He further highlighted other major projects undertaken by the senator in Ohafia, stating:
“Senator Kalu constructed the Ebem-Asaga, Ndi Ibe-Amuma-Okon-Amangwu road, which remains robust to this day because he personally ensured that the resources and budget were secured during his tenure as governor. He also facilitated the construction of the Akanu-Abia-Isiugwu and Ndi Uduma Awoke roads through federal agencies, despite the limitations of the budgets allocated for these projects. It was through his commitment that these roads reached their current state. Where were these newfound defenders of Ohafia when these developments were taking place?
“As a professional, I understand the complexities of road construction, and based on the budget allocated for the Ndi Orieke road, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this project.”
Professor Kalu reiterated that the people of Ohafia are discerning enough to recognise genuine development efforts and will not be swayed by individuals with hidden agendas. He urged Ogbuagu and his sponsors to cease their interference in Ohafia’s matters and concentrate on their own communities.
